Description
This watercolor painting portrays a lively woodland stream flowing through a lush, green forest in Romania’s Retezat mountains. The composition emphasizes movement and light, with the rushing water in the foreground contrasting against the stillness of the surrounding trees and foliage. The stream is the focal point, painted with dynamic, broken brushstrokes of white and pale blues and greys to capture the froth and sparkle of water tumbling over rocks. Darker washes of gray and brown define the stones beneath the surface. The layering of transparent washes with opaque highlights creates a sense of depth and motion in the water.
