Description

This watercolor painting depicts a wide river meandering through a valley in autumn, framed by forested hills and distant mountains in Gura Humorului, Bucovina, Romania. The composition conveys a sense of openness and tranquility, with soft light illuminating the landscape. The foreground shows the riverbank with earthy browns and greens, where shallow water reflects the sky in pale blue tones. Patches of untouched paper create highlights on the water’s surface, suggesting ripples and glimmers of light. Small figures stand in the shallows, adding scale and a sense of quiet human presence. The midground is dominated by the river as it curves into the distance, bordered by trees in full autumn color.
