Description
This watercolor painting depicts a tranquil alpine scene, where a clear turquoise lake reflects the surrounding evergreens and towering snow-capped mountains. The composition balances the stillness of the water with the grandeur of the peaks above, using the white of the paper to create natural highlights and luminosity. The foreground features the calm surface of the lake, painted with transparent washes of turquoise and blue. Subtle variations in tone suggest depth and reflection, while untouched areas of paper create shimmering highlights across the water. The grassy banks are painted with layered greens, with dry brush and stippling adding texture to the vegetation. The midground is dominated by tall evergreen trees, painted in deep greens with layered washes to capture both shadow and light. The background showcases dramatic mountain peaks, painted with layered washes of gray, brown, and muted green. Wet-on-wet blending softens the slopes, while sharper, darker strokes define ridges and rocky textures.
