This watercolor painting portrays a vibrant wildflower meadow stretching toward distant green hills beneath a dramatic, cloud-filled sky. The composition captures both the energy of the blooming field and the softness of the misty horizon, using the natural white of the paper to create highlights and luminosity. The foreground is filled with dense grasses and wildflowers, painted in layered washes of green interspersed with bright yellows and touches of red. Stippling, splattering, and dry brush techniques suggest clusters of blossoms and blades of grass. The white of the paper is left untouched in small areas, giving the impression of delicate petals and glimmers of light among the flowers without the use of opaque paint. The midground transitions into a softer, hazy layer where the meadow fades into mist. This effect is achieved with diluted washes and gentle blending, allowing the paper’s brightness to shine through and create a natural glow.
